Pinned Up New York!

October 13, 2010

I’ve been a bad blogger! It’s been ages since I posted and I have tons of catch up to do…

First up – some fun from my recent pin-up seminar in Albany, New York!

This was a great workshop, and the attendees were all great fun!

My friend, Dino Petrocelli, opened his fantastic studio for us to play in. He’s a great photographer and specializes in bike photography.

My models this time were Bridget and Coco – both awesome fun!

Day one was shooting day, and everyone had a blast posing both girls! Day two was post-production.

Here’s the group shot of everyone, a shot of Bridget that I had in my head as soon as I saw her outfit and the tiny chair in Dino’s prop closet, and a couple of quick videos!

Next stop – Melbourne!!!

Pin-up training…Los Angeles workshop debrief!

June 16, 2010

Phew – that was fun!

First time I’ve been back to California since I left in 2008, and the weather didn’t disappoint!

The venue for my Pinned-Up workshop this time was the Santa Clarita Center for Photography run by Mel Carll (a new friend!) This workshop came about after I met the awesome William Innes at WPPI in Vegas this year, and he asked if I could bring the pin-up fun to Southern California…sure!

We had three great models, a bunch of fun students and had a blast. When I present these workshops we spend a day shooting, posing and lighting and then a day discussing marketing and intensive post-production.

Next stop for one of my pinned-up workshops is likely to be New York in September. If you want me to stop off in your town – send me an email!!

If you are a studio owner and want to host, get in touch! Let’s talk!

Here are a couple of the first images worked so far- the lovely Amy:

Live from Nashville!

November 4, 2009

I feel that I haven’t been posting much – it’s been a busy couple of weeks here! I’m currently in Nashville at the NoBS Photo Success Inferno Bootcamp workshop. NoBS is the BEST photo forum on the web, and I’m lucky enough to be a part of it. Run by Rob Provencher and James Hodgins you won’t find a better place on the net to learn, connect and grow your photography business.

This year, Rob and James invited me to speak, and yesterday I spent a couple of hours talking about my pin-up photography and then performed a live photo shoot with two models. The first model was Kourteney, a local girl who was amazing…her first time as a pin-up and she rocked it. The second model was a surprise one, and more details of that later on!!! ;)

Speaking and teaching to other photographers is something that I love to do, and will be doing much more of in the future.

Nashville is also where Mama Shan and I debuted Pindora’s Box – a wonderful set of tools for photographers. If you shoot pin-ups, boudoir, kids, seniors, weddings….anything! then Pindora’s Box will take your images to the next level, and beyond.

More from Inferno soon, including some behind the scenes videos from my pin-up presentation.

No Limits: Portland – debrief

April 3, 2009

I’ve been a bad blogger again! I have a good excuse this time – I’ve been very busy getting ready for wedding season and also hosted a workshop here at the studio for 19 photographers.

The No Limits: Portland Workshop was a 2 day intensive photography and retouching bootcamp for photographers to learn pin-up and glamour techniques.

Day one: Pin-Up.
First day’s activities were my domain – the lovely Pin-Ups! I had two awesome models join me, Mandy and Christine, and my usual make-up artist Hollie came along to work her magic. The day was split into two – the morning was given over to posing and lighting instruction, the afternoon was devoted to my full post-production techniques. For photographers reading this stay tuned – there will be more workshops in the future, and I’m also going to be adding a ‘For Photographers’ section to this site soon offering advice and products to help your photography.

Here are some shots of day one:

Day Two:

Andy Armstrong – a fantastic photography from Knoxville was in charge on day two. In the morning he instructed posing and lighting for relaxed glamour photography using both flash and available light. In the afternoon, he showed his full workflow and took questions about Photoshop and retouching in general, and demonstrated products from his Design|House range of tools for digital photographers, including the great new Destination Vegas pack.

Here are some shots of day two:
