Yup – waiting for a client again recently I had another go at a self portrait. This then, is the chief cook and bottle washer, head honcho, and general dogsbody at Katchlight and Portland Pin-Ups. Yours truly….

A recent senior to Katchlight Photography, Kevin! I love shooting seniors – it’s not too early for class of 2012 to start to get booked up…come and shoot your studio session over the winter and be first among your friends to get your outdoor session completed early summer next year!

This past weekend I had the wonderful pleasure of shooting Kyra and William’s wedding at the Architectural Heritage Center in Portland.
They were originally going to tie the knot outside in a park in St Johns, but the wonderful Portland weather changed their minds!
This was a beautiful wedding – with just their closest family and friends for the ceremony.
Here are my faves for the day!!

Came across these shots of me from Lauren and Sam’s wedding – these were taken by my 2nd photographer, Jennie…

Ok folks, it’s been way too long since I last posted…trying to catch up!! Lots of news coming – I’ve been busy!
Been to Canada and New York teaching pin-up photography, shot a ton of awesome weddings for some wonderful people…and now into the end of summer with some more weddings, more pin-ups, and coming October 23rd…Mad Dogs and Englishmen!

Hello dog lovers! and welcome to Katchlight Photography’s “Dog Day” – or as we call it around here, “Mad Dog’s and Englishmen”!! Please take the time to read through all the info on this page, your best friend will really appreciate it, and so will I.
This studio day is dedicated to our doggy friends big and small, and even though I don’t personally have a dog, I love them and wanted to create something special for Portland’s pooches! Taking a few clues from a photographer friend of mine in Canada, James Hodgins, Mad Dogs was my way of giving dog owners an amazing way to capture their loved one, and also to benefit the Oregon Humane Society. My session fees for the Dog Day have been reduced and $10 from each one will go to the OHS, and you also have to bring along a bag of dry dog food that will also go to OHS.

There are only 20 openings for Mad Dogs, so you need to call the studio to secure your space.
Mad Dogs is October 23rd. (by appointment)
Viewing day is October 27th, (by appointment)
Mad Dogs session fee is $59 plus a large bag of dry dog food (see specs below)
$10 of each session fee and the dog food will go to OHS.
Mad Dogs is not your typical, run of the mill photo shoot. I plan on capturing the life and soul of each dog and getting their personality to shine. This often happens within a few clicks of the shutter, sometimes it takes a little longer. For this special day, I will be focussing on each dog, and not the background or props or colors. As you can see by the promo images of Mazy on this page, by making the portraits simple and black and white, your eyes are drawn right into the personality of the dog.

Sessions will be approximately 20 minutes each. I try to capture the winning shots in the first 5 minutes so we don’t stess the dogs out, making them breathe heavy with tongues sticking out (sometimes a good thing!).

Lauren and Sam!!! Lauren is the daughter of a friend of mine, Debbie, you may remember their engagement shoot a while back!!
They tied the knot at Camas Meadows Golf Club and it was awesome!!!
Thanks Lauren, Sam and Debbie for allowing me to be a part of such an amazing day!
Here are a few of my faves….

We’re deep into wedding season now! I’ve just finished up 3 weddings in 3 days!!!
Quite a few of my weddings this year are as a lead associate for Powers Studios, and many of the images from those weddings are over on their blog.
Yesterday though, I was up at the lovely Bridal Veil Lakes photographing the gorgeous Christy and her new husband Chris!
What a fabulous day!!
Here are a few of my favorites – and congratulations to Christy and Chris, and all the best for a fantastic married future together!

First wedding of what is going to be a very busy year!! Meet Elisa and Joe, two great friends of mine, and I was lucky enough to be asked to capture their wedding at the UP chapel, and then the fun at Urban Studio in downtown Portland.
For my first wedding this year, I asked a good friend of mine, Alison Berk, from Humboldt Canada to fly down to 2nd shoot for me and I can’t wait to see her vision of the day! We also had another good friend, Dawn Schubert from California come up to assist too!!
I’ll be shooting 30 weddings this year – some for my company, Katchlight, and some as a lead associate for Powers Studios and I’m looking forward to every one of them!

One of the reasons I love wedding photography is that I get to make cool new friends! Two such people are Michelle and Dmitri. Any engagement session that starts with a couple of beers in a bar has to be good! We had a ton of fun wandering around the Mississippi area of Portland, even if Michelle scraped her leg at the end!
Fave shots of the day:
