Lauren and Sam!!! Lauren is the daughter of a friend of mine, Debbie, you may remember their engagement shoot a while back!!
They tied the knot at Camas Meadows Golf Club and it was awesome!!!
Thanks Lauren, Sam and Debbie for allowing me to be a part of such an amazing day!
Here are a few of my faves….

Phew – that was fun!
First time I’ve been back to California since I left in 2008, and the weather didn’t disappoint!
The venue for my Pinned-Up workshop this time was the Santa Clarita Center for Photography run by Mel Carll (a new friend!) This workshop came about after I met the awesome William Innes at WPPI in Vegas this year, and he asked if I could bring the pin-up fun to Southern California…sure!
We had three great models, a bunch of fun students and had a blast. When I present these workshops we spend a day shooting, posing and lighting and then a day discussing marketing and intensive post-production.
Next stop for one of my pinned-up workshops is likely to be New York in September. If you want me to stop off in your town – send me an email!!
If you are a studio owner and want to host, get in touch! Let’s talk!
Here are a couple of the first images worked so far- the lovely Amy:

First wedding of what is going to be a very busy year!! Meet Elisa and Joe, two great friends of mine, and I was lucky enough to be asked to capture their wedding at the UP chapel, and then the fun at Urban Studio in downtown Portland.
For my first wedding this year, I asked a good friend of mine, Alison Berk, from Humboldt Canada to fly down to 2nd shoot for me and I can’t wait to see her vision of the day! We also had another good friend, Dawn Schubert from California come up to assist too!!
I’ll be shooting 30 weddings this year – some for my company, Katchlight, and some as a lead associate for Powers Studios and I’m looking forward to every one of them!

Hot on the heels of Daddy and Me day – I decided to give Dad’s in Portland a very special Father’s day this year, and am now offering Father’s Favorites!

I’ve been thinking of a way to get Portland’s Dad’s the best present, rather than the usual boring sweater and colone combo that they usually get! Of course, I want my photographer to be the main player in the event…so I’ve come up with Father’s Favorites. While my Daddy and Me day is still going be scheduled as planned, I thought that what Dad’s really wanted was something to bring a smile to his face every time he looked at it…

Hello from cold and (kind of ) snowy Quebec!
I’ve had a great time here with my Canadian friends, and met some awesome new ones! Hung out last night with David Beckstead (hands down winner for best business card ever!) who is a true rockstar photographer.
My presentation yesterday was fun, although being translated was weird! At least the translator was a good friend of mine, Julie, and her daughter, Joelle, was one of my models – so much fun was had!
Video coming later today, here is the first image I’ve processed from the live shoot of Joelle. My other model, Melissa, was equally awesome and I’ll work some images of them both next week.
This is my last day in Canada before heading home – traveling slows down now for wedding season…phew!

I’m often asked: “What’s it really like at one of your pin-up shoots?” – while I can give a pretty good answer, it’s always easier to see…so I’ve been working with an awesome pair of videographers, Christopher Alley and Chris Wilson who helped me put together a video of a typical shoot. Since most of my clients are having a pin-up as a gift for their husband, fiance or boyfriend – they generally don’t want to be videod and plastered all over the web! So, for this project I enlisted the help of one of my Portland Pin-Up Model Ambassadors…Mandy Apple!
Meet Kay and Seth! They are getting married in August, and we had some fun today shooting their engagement session! Their dog, Bell, also came along for the ride!!

I’ve long been a believer that photographers need to shoot projects that get their creative juices flowing. While I love wedding photography, and pin-up photography, I do feel the need to let loose and be creative with no barriers from time to time. This year I’ve embarked on a project called ‘Carnival of Sins’. Yes, I’m aware that Mötley Crüe had a tour with that name… !
My Carnival of Sins is based around a Victorian era freak show, with stunning pin-ups in weird and wonderful scenes. It’s quite the project, and it may end up taking a couple of years to complete. As images are ready I’ll be sharing.
First up – Portland Pin-Ups Contract Girl, Mandy Apple. Seen here in two vignettes:

“The Lion Tamer”
