This post travels to you from sunny California where I’m teaching one of my Pinned-Up classes. This time it’s a private workshop for an awesome company, XSiGHT USA. Run by the energetic Gail DeMarco, XSiGHT are a great bunch of guys and gals who have a wonderful studio and great business. They wanted to add pin-ups into their mix of portraits and weddings so I flew down to help them get started.
These are a few of the first shots from today’s workshop, of the very talented and lovely Darling Danika (All processed with my Pindora’s Box set)

I often receive emails from ladies who really love pin-ups, and WANT to do it, but are shy, or scared. My answer is usually ‘if this guy can do it…so can you!’
Yup – that’s a guy. He’s James Hodgins, my friend from Sudbury in Canada. He owns and runs the NoBS Photosuccess forum, and is also an awesome photographer. At the NoBS Inferno Convention in Nashville in November last year I was demonstrating my pin-up photography with live model shoots – but at the last minute one of my models became a no-show and I needed a fresh one.
Drunk at the bar, I hit on an idea. The conversation went something like this….that I remember:
Me – “Hey Hodgy, I need a model…how do you fancy popping on a dress and strutting your stuff for me?”
Hodgy (he’s Canadian) – “ah fer sure you betcha eh”
Me – “Awesome, you’re serious right? Dress and everything”
Hodgy – “ohhhhh totally, sure. Eh. You better make me look hot though. Eh”
Me – “that’ll be a stretch, but I’ll try. Make-Up?”
Hodgy – “Why not, I wear it most weekends anyway!”
Me – “Great. Let’s go shopping. What size bra are you?”
At least…that’s how *I* remember the conversation going. He remembers it a little differently….
So – if James can dress to the nines, have his make up done, and play silly for my camera – so can you! Call me now to set up YOUR pin-up session!!
(And thanks again James for being such a good sport!)

First post back at work after an awesome week in Vegas for WPPI. Among my projects while there was to talk to vendors that I use about helping with my workshops and speaking engagments, and I’m really proud to announce that Animoto will be helping me in the future! I love Animoto, their videos are dead easy to use and look killer! Here is one I produced this morning for my pin-ups!
Another recent pin-up – this time it’s the lovely Amber. She wanted a calendar for her anniversary – here are 3 of my favorites from the 12 shots we created.

Mackenzie – her man is rather keen on the VW Bus…could I incorporate that into a shot??? You betcha!!! What’s YOUR pin-up fantasy? Get in touch now to book a session for your hubby / boyfriend…or for yourself!

Meet the lovely Katrina – she came to me wanting some great pin-ups for her Navy husband…of course!!

Ok – so the cat is now out of the bag and Sandy has announced that she will be touring with the amazing Jerry Ghionis in 2011…and I was lucky enough to produce the tour artwork for them recently! While the tour isn’t for another year, they wanted to announce it early so we shot these images a couple of weeks after we wrapped the 2010 tour images. Enjoy!
So, after proclaiming that my traveling for 2009 was now finished…here I am sitting at Portland airport having breakfast (the Denver scramble of course!) waiting for my flight!
I’m off to Denver again for another shoot with Sam Puc’. This one is for her 2011 tour promo. Yes, it’s a bit early to be promoting a tour a year away, but Sam is taking a guest speaker on the road in ‘11, and they are keen to get the buzz started early! No more details yet – all will be revealed in good time! (and no, the guest speaker isn’t me!!)
My make-up artist, the fabulous Hollie Olsen (available for any make-up services including bridal: Celebrity Spa Services ) is also an actress. She’s staring in a terrific new short due next year, about a guy convinced he’s a super hero and can save the World.
Trailer here:
She asked if I could come to the set (an old abandoned hospital) and take a shot of the cast in character….I’d love to!! After we did the main group shot, I had each of them pose as singles again in character.
Here is the group, Hollie and ‘Rufus’ – the mad janitor! More to come, and this isn’t the final processing yet – just testing. The final DVD cover will probably be more fun!
