Inspiration

Inspiration comes in many shapes and forms. Some people find help in the depths of a religious book, others in the bottom of a glass.

Wherever you find the inspiration to go about your daily life, to make important decisions or to change your life, we all need a little help in the right direction from time to time.
A few years ago, whilst trying to decide which avenue to take my life, a song surfaced that probably affected tons of people besides me. It helped solidify in my mind that I needed to make a few changes in my life. The end result of those changes happened when my wife and I decided to emigrate to America from the UK and have a wonderful fresh start.

The song in question was “Everybody’s free to wear sunscreen” by Baz Luhrmann. Taken from an essay written by Mary Schmich in the Chicago Tribune on 1st June 1997, Luhrmann produced the spoken word song with a voice over from Australian Lee Perry.
